BMI Honors The Bee Gees as Icons
at 55th Annual Pop Award

BMI staged its 55th Annual Pop Awards on
May 15,2007 honoring as Pop Icons. Accepting the
awards were Barry and Robin Gibb, and Yvonne Gibb,
wife of the late Maurice Gibb.

The Bee Gees won the Grammy Legends Award, 2/24/03thok this award that we're giving to Maurice, OK?" Barry Gibb and Maurice's twin Robin were on hand to accept the honor. Barry, the oldest brother and the lead singer of the group, said, "I think this is just a little bit harder than Robin and I imagined it could ever be. We know he's watching--he always watched the Grammys (chuckles)--and I think that the nicest thing, I think, that could happen is, is if his son came up and took this award that we're giving to Maurice, OK?"
Maurice's son Adam then took the stage and said, "I know how much my dad loved doing what he did, and he would have loved being here right now. I know he'd wanna thank one person, and that's my mom, because, 'cause she was his rock."

May 27, 2004 Awarded a CBE, or Commander of the Order of British Empire, by Queen Elizabeth II in the New Year's Eve Honors List 2001. His son, Adam, accepted the award for his Dad.

Bee Gees Robin and Barry Gibb were returning to their roots on Wednesday to open a school recording studio named in memory of their brother Maurice.
The brothers were joined by family and friends at Oakwood High School in Chorlton-cum-Hardy, the Manchester suburb they grew up in.
They also received doctorates in music from the University
of Manchester and a posthumous honour for Maurice.

Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997
(as a member of The Bee Gees).

Owned a paintball shop in the Miami area called 'Commander Mo's.
Gibb loved the sport of paintball, and had a team which he called the Royal Rat Rangers, a reference to his being named a Commander of the British Empire, and to his time at the Little River AA group, where the members referred to each other as "river rats." He promoted the sport at every opportunity, and opened a paintball equipment shop, "Commander Mo's Paintball Shop," in North Miami Beach, Florida.

Maurice was cremated and his ashes buried on his property in the Bahamas. The funeral service was private (only family members and friends attended) and not opened to the public.

Died on his elder sister Leslie's 58th birthday.

Inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1994 with brothers Barry and Robin.

He and his older brother Barry Gibb wrote a song called Man In The Middle. After his death it appeared on the "Number Ones" album as a tribute to Maurice.

The Maurice Gibb album track, "Man In The Middle" was #1 for three weeks in March, 2005 in the country of Turkey
